Current Mood: It's been a long while since I've blogged (heck - I admit that I had totally forgotten about this place!). Anyway, I am a newlywed as of October 18th - all the aspects of a year's worth of planning (despite all the procrastination) were executed smoothly. Thank goodness (and I'm sure my sis, Ang & Peggy were glad) that I didn't have much of bridezilla-ness within me throughout the entire process and event... okay maybe there were a few moments where the ugliness may have peeked out... hehehe! Anyway, onward with the summary of the day (photos are found on my facebook)! 8am - makeup artist arrives at my house and starts working on the girls 9am - the guys rendevouz in Manhattan, pick up the photographer and head towards my house 10am - guys arrive at my doorstep, photographer captures a few pics of me getting ready and the guys' futile attempts to negotiate with my niece in order to enter my house 11am - deal or no deal? My niece still refuses to allow them to enter my house 11:30am - finally! They enter my house but my mom doesn't make it easy on them. She challenges DH to stuff a charsiu bau within 1 minute... and he does! Tea ceremony commences! 12:30pm - travel to DH's parents' home for 2nd tea ceremony 2:30pm - head towards Long Island City for photoshoot 4:00pm - head towards DUMBO for photoshoot 5:30pm - head towards banquet (we were late)... 6pm - arrive at banquet and dance, party, have fun! My BIL helped me loads with setting the centerpieces, favors, etc. (little details and stuf that I had totally forgotten about in the trunk of the minivan!). We had a photo tree where they printed out the images taken during the day - they were a huge hit and the kids were asking us for autographs! 8pm - 1st dish finally shows up on the tables 10:30pm - guests leave The banquet went really well! Those there were telling me how good the food was and I commented back to them saying I'm glad you enjoyed it - because I didn't eat any of it! Yep - DH and I were starving by the end of the night and the only thing we had were 2 bowls of sweet soup that were left on the table! The entire day was long but short... memorable with funny faces and silliness (I wore nice shoes during the tea ceremony, but changed in to black Nike sneakers during the photoshoots and changed back to the nice shoes for the reception)! We were off to Hawaii the following morning for 2 weeks - we visited Waikiki (Oahu), Big Island, and Maui. It is absolutely beautiful there! The waters bluer than the Caribbean, the air on Haleakala crisper than the Catskills, the folks nicer than anyone else here in the US! Let's just say I found my inner peace at Hawaii and whenever I am the slightest bit stressed out at work, I think of going back to that happy place :) |
